This course teaches the student to apply what he or she has learned in the content matter of the course to everyday situations. The student will learn to think through situations and apply what he or she has learned to reach sound decisions. Again, this course teaches the critical reading skills and their use in learning new material. The student will also learn the basics of interpretation of illustrations. Upon satisfactory completion of this section, he or she should be able to successfully read and understand high school graduate level material in both the life sciences and the physical sciences. The student should be able to pass the post-test and successfully complete the Science portion of the GED.

Ophelia Holmes has over 15 years of teaching experience. She has taught mathematics for 13 years. She was a GED instructor and worked with Adult and Community Education for several years. She graduated with honors from Tallahassee Community College and received an Associate of Arts degree. Ophelia attended Florida A&M University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Sciences and a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education. While attending Florida A&M University, she received a United States National Achievement Award in mathematics and received an honor’s certificate in mathematics.
Ophelia joined OLT in 2015.
